With Jenny busily constructing a 700-page manuscript that she calls our itinerary, I am content that we will see most of what New Zealand has to offer. I got the impression that we have researched fairly well when a work colleague (a NZ South Islander) confessed his ignorance on a number of destinations we have penned in.
While putting Hamish to bed this evening, he proudly brandished a Matchbox car, advising me he would take this in for Show and Tell, "Not this Friday (Grandparents Day at school), but next Friday". I pointed out that we would be in another country by then. "The next Friday then", he countered. After hearing that we would be seeing snow, boiling mud and taking a ride in a helicopter over the next few Fridays, he concluded that he would take the car in after we got back.... I'm sure the kids will be suitably impressed...
